Surgery at Sutton Animal Hospital
PreSurgical Evaluation
All potential surgery cases are examined prior to surgery and pre-anesthetic tests are performed to insure that each pet is healthy for general anesthesia. Additional pre-anesthetic diagnostics may be recommended depending on the individual patient.
Anesthetic Protocols
We use the safest anesthetics available and each patient receives a tailored anesthetic protocol based on their health status. State of the art monitoring equipment that reports blood pressure, oxygen saturation, cardiac rate and rhythm, respiratory rate, and temperature are used during every anesthetic procedure.
Pain Management
At Sutton Animal Hospital, pain management before, during and after surgery is a top priority. We use multiple modalities to insure maximum pain relief so that your pet is comfortable at all times.
What to Expect on the Day of Surgery?
Our main goal at Sutton Animal Hospital is to provide personalized care to you and your pet. We understand that dropping your pet off for surgery can be stressful. We will be with your pet every step of the way to make sure they are comfortable and keep you up to date with their progress.
We require that pets have no access to food or water after midnight the night before any anesthetic procedure. We request that you drop your pet off between 8:30 and 9:00am the morning of the procedure. Your pet will be admitted to the hospital by one of our highly trained medical staff. When the procedure is complete, the doctor will call you and answer any questions you may have.
A formal discharge time will be scheduled so that all instructions and post operative care needs are reviewed with you prior to taking your pet home.
