Monica Kennedy, MVB

Practice Owner

Dr. Monica Kennedy, a native New Yorker and the daughter of Irish immigrants, grew up in Marine Park, Brooklyn.  She knew that she wanted to be a veterinarian since the age of five. While growing up she was always compelled to rescue and provide a safe haven for sick and abandoned pets. She also spent many summers on her grandmother’s farm in Tipperary, Ireland caring for all of the farm animals. This love for all creatures and the desire to care for them led Dr. Kennedy to pursue an education in animal science. During high school and college, Dr. Kennedy broadened her knowledge and strengthened her desire to become a veterinarian by working at various veterinary hospitals in Brooklyn and New York City.

Dr. Kennedy received a Bachelor of Science with honors in Animal Science from Cornell University and graduated with honors from the University College Dublin School of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. She continued her training with an internship at the renowned Long Island Veterinary Specialists in Plainview, Long Island. There she developed her skills in internal medicine, emergency and critical care, ophthalmology, dermatology, and surgery. Following this internship, Dr. Kennedy practiced veterinary medicine with Dr. Kent-Miller as an associate veterinarian for 6 years on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.  During this time Dr. Kennedy honed her skills in internal medicine and surgery.  The friendship and professional respect that was built with Dr. Kent-Miller while working together ultimately laid the foundation for the creation of their future partnership.

Dr. Kennedy worked on Long Island and Brooklyn while embarking on the journey of establishing Sutton Animal Hospital with Dr. Kent-Miller. Dr. Kennedy enjoys providing progressive, compassionate, and exemplary care to her patients.

Dr. Kennedy currently lives in Long Island with her husband, their son, and their Boston Terrier, Maverick. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, spin classes, traveling and mentoring pre-veterinary students.
